D & D Enterprises, a third-generation manufacturer, has always
prioritized innovation and staying ahead of the competition. Recently, Jason Davis, the CEO of D & D Enterprises, visited the Eurotech technical center in Brooksville, Florida to explore the capabilities of the Eurotech Trofeo. Already a proud owner of two Rapido machines, Jason’s interest in the Trofeo underscores D & D Enterprises' commitment to high-tech equipment, maintaining their family legacy, and keeping manufacturing jobs in the USA.
Background
"My father and uncle founded D & D Enterprises in 1976, starting from a small shop just outside our home," Jason Davis shared. "They dedicated themselves to the business and, in 1997, we expanded to a new facility. I joined the company in 1999 after graduating from college. Today, the business is truly a family affair with my sister, Sharon Warden, and the next generation, my nephew, Nick Warden both actively involved.” D & D Enterprises is committed to staying family-owned and operated, which gives them a unique advantage in providing both simple and complex products.
New Opportunity & Growth
Jason explains, "Our manufacturing capabilities include 3-5 axis milling, mill turning, Swiss turning, and conventional turning. While we initially specialized in the aerospace industry, our foray into Eurotech products began when we ventured into the firearms industry.” He continues, “We needed a solution that would provide greater efficiency and a competitive edge by producing parts with superior accuracy and speed. This necessity led us to Eurotech. We first encountered the Rapido machine at the Shot Show, where we witnessed firsthand the solutions it offered, particularly for the parts we aimed to produce." Jason adds.
Innovation & Training
"Eurotech stands out with their lifetime programming training classes and 24/7 support," Jason Davis remarked. "The Rapido is packed with advanced technology, including dual turrets, superimposition, and sub-spindle. To fully leverage this technology, we took advantage of Eurotech's comprehensive programming classes. We sent our team members to their programming, operations, and maintenance courses, and received additional training during the setup of the machines. Our need for service and support has been minimal, but we truly value the prompt phone support provided by our local distributor, Utech CNC."
Speaking to the technical needs of D&D, Eurotech engineer Shane Jacobson adds; "Our main focus was to be able to complete the bolt on one machine, in one operation and have the part come off the parts conveyor complete including the deburring process. We use a special form tool for the cam bolt hole which gives us a big advantage by eliminating any peening. In regards to cycle time, we wanted to get that as low as possible, so the ability to utilize the superimposed sub-spindle played a vital role in the significant reduction of cycle time. Also the combination of parts evacuation and chip removal system made it so the lights out unattended shifts are able to run smoothly"
Keeping Manufacturing in the USA
“Providing a good environment for our team is paramount," Jason Davis emphasized. "We are committed to fostering both personal and financial growth for our employees. Our competition isn't other shops in our city, state, or even across the country. We must support each other locally because we're competing on a global scale, against other countries. We want to see America succeed, our state succeed, and our cities succeed, and that starts with each individual company. Having the right equipment is crucial for running unmanned and lights-out operations, enabling us to stay competitive and innovative."
With the right equipment, cutting-edge technology, and robust quality systems in place, D & D Enterprises is well-positioned to thrive in a competitive market and continue its legacy of family excellence.
