Definition
Swiss-type turning is a lathe architecture in which the bar stock slides through a guide bushing and is machined immediately at the point of support. Because the material is supported at the cut, Swiss-type machines hold tight tolerances on long, slender, small-diameter parts that would deflect on a conventional lathe.

Dedicated vs hybrid Swiss — the choice inside the category
Dedicated Swiss machines run guide-bushing mode only.
